Poor video quality when sending OBS Virtual Camera to Zoom

I’m trying to stream a Zoom meeting from one PC using another PC with OBS Studio.

The video input signal is excellent, and the recording made directly in OBS is Full HD. However, when I send the video from OBS through Zoom, the participants receive a very low-resolution image.

Interestingly, if I stream directly from my PC (without going through OBS), the video quality looks much better.

Could anyone explain why this might be happening?

Is there any difference in video resolution depending on the Zoom plan?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @Mervin Luzon,

Zoom’s video resolution partly depends on your subscription plan. Higher-tier plans can support HD video (720p or 1080p), but your device performance and network conditions must also meet Zoom’s requirements.

Even if you’re recording or outputting Full HD through OBS Studio, Zoom may still reduce the resolution once the video is transmitted through the platform. This can happen due to plan limitations, available bandwidth, or CPU usage.

To optimize video quality, make sure HD video is enabled in your Zoom settings and confirm that your plan supports HD streaming. Also keep in mind that network stability and system performance can affect the video quality that participants ultimately see.
