NVIDIA Broadcast Camera is not working properly

When I set the camera to “NVIDIA Broadcast” in Zoom, I get an “Cannot start video” error and cannot use the camera.

Has anyone else experienced the same problem, or has anyone managed to fix it?

 

[Environment]

GPU: GeForce RTX 4070

Driver: 616.64

NVIDIA Broadcast: 2.2.1 Build 58338310

Camera: Cisco Desk Camera 4K

OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (ja-JP)

Zoom: 7.1.8 (46825)

 

[Additional Information]

 

NVIDIA Broadcast camera work properly in Teams and Discord.

If I reinstall Zoom, NVIDIA Broadcast camera will work properly for a short time. However, it will stop working after I restart Windows.

    This can happen if Windows temporarily blocks Zoom from accessing the camera after a reboot. If you're seeing the “Cannot start video” error and you're using NVIDIA Broadcast as your camera, it’s worth checking Windows’ camera permissions first.

     

    On Windows 11, try this:

    1. Right-click Start → Settings
    2. Go to Privacy & security → Camera
    3. Make sure Camera access is turned On
    4. Also make sure Let desktop apps access your camera is enabled
    5. Check that Zoom is allowed to access the camera if it appears in the list

    Once you've done that, completely quit Zoom (including from the system tray), then open it again.

    After restarting Zoom, go to Settings → Video and select NVIDIA Broadcast as your camera again.

    If it still doesn't work, I'd also check whether NVIDIA Broadcast itself can access the physical camera. That can help determine whether the issue is with Zoom or with the virtual camera connection.

    This is a Zoom specific issue. I’ve been having it for a few weeks at this point. I can confirm that reinstalling Zoom will allow the camera to work for a short period of time, but then it will start to fail to work with zero configuration or hardware changes.

    The virtual camera is perfectly accessible by any other application. There are no privacy or security restrictions on the camera. Firefox, Edge, Windows Camera, NVIDIA Broadcast, the camera’s actual software all function properly and can use the virtual camera. Zoom on a web browser can access the camera, but that is expected since it is the browser controlling it.

    Quitting and restarting Zoom does nothing. Restarting Windows does nothing. The only temporary fix is to completely remove Zoom, reinstall it, and have your meeting.

    It is only the Zoom application that fails to start the virtual camera. This also applies to the OBS virtual camera. Having Zoom reference the physical camera works, it is only the virtual camera wrapper that Zoom fails to start. Zoom originally worked fine with virtual cameras.

    Zoom and NVIDIA Broadcast have been properly allowed access to the physycal camera.

    NVIDIA Broadcast can access the physical camera without any issues, and Zoom can access the physical camera directly. Only access via NVIDIA Broadcast results in an error.

    I think the issue Steven pointed out is probably the same as mine.

    This issue appears to be caused by Zoom's inability to properly handle virtual camera devices.
