not able to turn off virtual background on Zoom workplace APP

Hello Zoom family:

I've downloaded the Zoom Workplace APP(Version 6.3.5)on my macbook pro m4.

When I try to turn off the virtual background and click the 'None' option from the Virtual background, it still shows me a background (a picture of trees and waterview), but I'm unable to get rid of it.

Does anyone have this same problem?

I appreciate your help.

Same issue!  It’s easy to change backgrounds but not remove them apparently.

Hello there,

Welcome to the Zoom Community! We're glad to have you here.

Depending on your device, it may have a built-in video effect that automatically applies a virtual background during Zoom meetings. To turn this feature off, we recommend checking your device’s manual or settings for instructions on how to disable it. This will ensure that your background appears as intended during the meeting.

It is not my device, I used the zoom app to put the background there and now the zoom app does not let me remove it. I used my own photograph.

This does not solve the issue. I have tried other devices and the issue is Zoom. Before I was able to use the app as intended, and now I am forced on a feature that cannot be reversed.

I second this.  There seems to be no way to turn this feature off which is ridiculous.  @zoom:  Can we get a more definite answer ASAP please?!

Okay, All:

I was so upset about this freaking setting and was just about to throw in the towel when I looked at the top right hand corner of my mac's DESKTOP.

- First and FYI, I had just downloaded the Zoom Workplace App to my mac prior to playing around then getting stuck with the virtual background. Mac users should also have Facetime.

-  I happened to click on the Facetime icon at the top right.

-  The first option is to select between Facetime and Zoom.US.  Both options have Webcamera settings and Background should be one of the settings.  I was able to finally turn off the background for both options.

-  For each option, I simply clicked on that setting and “greyed it out”.  That immediately turned off the background in Facetime and Zoom.  Thank God!

I’m going to post this as an answer to similar questions floating on this forum.  Sorry that I can’t help Windows or other users.  But hopefully, you can browse around further and find the solution.

Thank the Lord. Figured out when you said FaceTime (not in my desktop toolbox), it gave me a clue to click on the green video camera icon in Zoom at the top of my Zoom screen. Then I could choose to use Zoom instead of FaceTime. Yea!! The background then followed the None checked icon. Thanks.

OK, I've managed to escape from the sunny field at last. Zoom has definitely interfered with something as I know I put the background photo there using the phone app. To get rid of it on my android phone I had to go to Settings>Advanced features> video background and it was easy to sort out there. Not happy that zoom has wasted so much of my time and had my friends think I'm too hopeless to sort something out.
