No longer can open google calendar invites in desktop app

The update on Jan 12 changed how zoom meetings links in a chrome browser behaves to open directly in the web app, and it appears there is no option to go back to the old functionality. This would probably be fine if the web app had virtual backgrounds, but it does not.

Has anyone found a way around this? Not all of my meetings are in the zoom calendar.

“Chrome OS users accessing Zoom meeting join links are automatically redirected to the Zoom Web App (ZWA) without displaying an intermediate page. The system recognizes that Chrome OS devices do not support a desktop app and eliminates the unnecessary Launch Meeting step. When ZWA is installed on Chrome OS, the app automatically opens using the meeting link. This streamlined process reduces the number of clicks required to join meetings and provides faster access to Zoom sessions.”

So if I right click on the zoom link and open it in an incognito browser window, I am able to get most of the old behavior back and can open the link is the app. It seem to try to also save something, but at least I can open the meeting in the app. If anyone from Zoom reads this, I do get this feature was intended to make things easier, but for anyone who needs the virtual backgrounds it problematic. An option on the behavior would have been nice.
