New Zoom version BLURRING background does NOT work

In my organization, we’ve observed that several users are experiencing issues with the background blur feature in the latest Zoom client versions (6.5.6 and above). Specifically, the blur function fails to activate and, in some cases, causes the application to freeze. we addressed this by rolling affected users back to version 6.5.1, which appears to resolve the issue.

To further investigate, I installed version 6.5.7 from the official Zoom website and tested the blur background feature. Unfortunately, the application froze during the attempt, and the background did not blur.

Hi @mho_MAG, my apologies for the late reply.

A fix for this problem was included in the Zoom app version 6.5.9, released yesterday 8/11. Please update to the latest version and let us know if the issue persists. Thanks!

Hi @mho_MAG, thank you for raising this issue in the Zoom Community.

Is this isolated to just the blurred background, or are other virtual backgrounds affected as well? Could you also share what device and operating system you're using? Thanks!

Hi Carla,

Thank you for your reply. My users are on Windows 11, and we are using Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. I did further testing as per request:

1. I started a new meeting

2. Turned on my video, and when I clicked on "Blur my background", my video froze.

3. A box appeared on the screen that reads "Virtual background is still loading. Start video anyway?"

4. When I clicked on "Use video", my video starts to move again but the background did not blur.

5. I checked the video settings, "Blur my background" has a checkmark next to it. But my background did not blur at all.

6. I also checked by changing my background to the preset background on the app "San Francisco", same issue indicated in #3 and #4. My background did not change, but "San Francisco" had the blue border line around it indicating that it has been activated.

Hope this helps.
