Question

My video is not showing up in the conference recording

I am hosting a conference and recording it. At the same time, I select the "hide self-view" option, so I don't see my video, but other users can see me. However, my video is missing in the recording. How can I hide my video from myself during the conference, but make sure it is visible to others and in the recording?

    Hi @dashan

Navigate to the Recording tab, enable “Record video during screen sharing" and "Record active speaker with shared screen". By doing so, you'll ensure that your video is included in the recording.

    Recording layouts (zoom.com)

Hope this helps - Happy to help further!!
Thank you very much and have a great one!
    Warm regards

I’ve had exactly the same problem. I was on a call with someone, I hid my self-view and the recording only has the other person’s video. I checked my settings and the ‘Record active speaker with shared screen’ (see screenshot) was already checked and we weren’t actually sharing screen. So how do I make sure my video shows?

I have had a similar problem and the ‘Record Active Speaker with shared screen’ was already checked in my settings. and we weren’t actually sharing screen. I hid my self-view and my video did not show up on the recording while only the other person’s video was recorded. Please let me know if there is another setting.

I’m sorry for the late response, @Christiane Helbig

In Zoom, Hide Self View should only hide your own video tile on your screen—it should still be visible to participants and should still be recorded. If your video is missing from the recording, it’s usually due to the recording layout/settings, not Hide Self-View itself.

    What to do:

    1. Use Hide Self View (not “Stop Video”)
    • In the meeting, click the  on your self-view tile and choose Hide Self View.
    • Make sure you are not clicking Stop Video—that would remove your camera from what others see and from the recording. 1
    1. Check your recording layout settings (cloud/local). Your recording may be set to record a layout that doesn’t include your camera tile in the way you expect (for example, recording only the active speaker or only the shared screen).
    • In the Zoom web portal, go to Settings > Recording and review the recording layout options (for example, active speaker vs. gallery and options related to shared screen + speaker view). 2
    1. If you expect a gallery view recording, be aware: gallery view in cloud recordings requires at least two participants with video on; otherwise Zoom may only record active speaker view.
