Missing Videos

I have recently had six videos mysteriously disappear from my Zoom cloud account.  I did not delete them.  They were videos of classes  linked from a website. The question is, are there any circumstances where a video might be deleted because of its content?  There was nothing objectionable in these videos.  However, sometimes instructors might inadvertently use copyrighted material in a class presentation.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

hi @Michael Russo

Most Zoom Accounts are going to have settings to automatically delete old content.

When content is deleted, it sits in the deleted bin for 30 days. So I suggest you first look there to see if the files are shown.

There is no copyright or other checks done on your videos.
Only the settings for how long they continue and the space you have for recordings.
You will find this in settings

and to the bottom of this secrtion

Your response thus far has been very helpful.  Thank you.

In the past six years or so we have recorded over a thousand classes and meetings.  We do not set deletion dates, as we intend to keep the videos indefinitely. The videos are linked from a website so our members can watch classes and meetings that they miss.  The videos are also archived for future reference.  We have over a terabyte of Zoom cloud storage, of which we’ve used less than 30%.  Only a few videos have been mysteriously deleted.

Is it possible for us to have access to system logs to see exactly when files were deleted and by whom?  I would like to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Hi @Michael Russo ,

Ok, servers sometimes do break and I wonder if there has been a hardware issue. Nobody else would have been able to delete. unless a rule has been set so I will try and get this seen by somebody that does have access to the zoom data. As I am not a zoom employee.

I haven’t experienced this personally, but sometimes Zoom cloud recordings can disappear due to retention policies, storage limits, or if the account owner/admin has automatic deletion enabled. It’s also possible recordings were moved to the trash folder. You might want to check the trash and review your account’s recording retention settings, or contact Zoom support to see if they can recover them.
