Microphone interference

I Zoom services from my church. The microphone inputs are connected via a Flow 8 mixing desk and feed in to both a PA system and into Zoom via my Macbook Air. All microphones work well through the PA system but those on Zoom complain that what they hear is interference which dominates the voice input to that microphone whilst they receive good quality sound via other mics in use at the same time.

I do not understand why this interference occurs on Zoom but not on the PA.

Can anyone help, please?

Hi Brian Wilkinson,

Thank you for sharing the details of your setup. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when the microphones sound clear through your PA system but some attendees experience interference when listening through Zoom.

Since the issue appears to affect only certain microphones on Zoom, while the audio through your PA system remains clear, it would be helpful to investigate how the audio is being routed from your Flow 8 mixing desk to your MacBook Air and into Zoom.

As an initial check, you may want to:

  • Confirm that the correct audio input device is selected in Zoom.

  • Check the Flow 8's individual microphone channels, gain levels, and audio routing to the USB output.

  • Test the affected microphones individually in a Zoom test meeting to see whether the interference persists.

For further assistance, I recommend submitting a ticket to Zoom Support so the team can help investigate the audio issue and identify the potential cause.

You can submit a request here: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/new-request?id=new_request&sys_id=cb06ab4b8702255089a37408dabb3555

I hope this helps point you in the right direction!
