Meetings and Webinar grayed out

This is a good one. I have a user that the Settings > Meetings and Webinars setting for dual monitor is on and grayed out. Unfortunately the user want it to be on tabs and not dual monitor.

The user has multiple monitors but even disconnecting everything from the laptop it remains grayed out. There is no admin policy for this and its local.

Has anyone come across a solution for this? She I go back to an older version for the user and its a bug in the latest version?

    hi @Tim Cavanaugh

this feature used to be limied to people with a second monitor,
There is a minimum requirement. Maybe your device fails that

It’s greyed out. The user does not want the dual monitor on, they want tabs instead. Laptop connected with additional monitors, greyed out. Laptop disconnected from everything and clean start up, still greyed out and set to dual monitor. I just want to be able to turn off dual monitor. I’ve tried a reinstall of Workplace and it was the same.

    hi @Tim Cavanaugh ,

The doube monitor option is supposed to know work on single screen systems as two windows.
Your Comment of tabs makes me wonder if you are runnig this from the browser version and not the workplace app, that couuld well be the reason why this option is greyed out. I do not beleive it works on the browser version?

Hi! I’ve seen this happen before. Even with multiple monitors disconnected, sometimes the dual monitor setting stays grayed out if Zoom remembers a previous session configuration. A few things to try:

    1. Sign out and back in on the Zoom desktop app.

    2. Clear local Zoom settings: On Windows, delete %AppData%\Zoom (after backing up important data). On Mac, remove ~/Library/Application Support/zoom.us.

    3. Check for old config files or leftover preferences from previous versions.

    4. If all else fails, reinstall an older Zoom version to see if it restores the tabs option.

Would love to hear if anyone has a more permanent fix for this in the latest version!

What’s interesting that I realize is it’s talking windows and not monitors, may have nothing to do with the number of monitors.

    1. Tried
    2. Did that when I reinstalled, got rid of the AppData
    3. Laptop is new so don’t think it was ever not grey
    4. Haven’t tried this yet, this is a business so it will likely update itselft but worth a try.

Interesting issue  I’ve seen similar cases where the dual monitor option stays grayed out even after disconnecting extra displays. Sometimes it’s caused by the client still detecting previous monitor configurations or cached settings. You might try signing out of the app, clearing the local config/cache, and signing back in before downgrading the version. Curious to know if anyone else has found a cleaner fix for this!
