Meeting Participant Not Visible

The black screen with the slashed eyeball icon usually means that Zoom is being blocked from seeing her, even though she has her video turned on. It's almost always a privacy setting on her computer that's getting in the way, like an antivirus program or sometimes, her computer's main settings—whether it's a Mac or a Windows PC—just aren't giving Zoom permission to use the camera. 

If this started just a couple of weeks ago, it could’ve been triggered by a recent update to her antivirus software or a change in her computer's privacy settings. I would recommend trying the below:

Ask her if she’s running any antivirus or privacy apps. If she is, she could temporarily disable the anti-virus software and try to join a Zoom meeting and see if the issue persists. She can also try to explore the anti-virus program’s setting, look for anything related to privacy or camera protection and make sure Zoom isn’t being blocked. If there’s an option to add Zoom to the “allowed” list, she can add the Zoom app and re-test.

She can also check her computer’s privacy settings and make sure camera access is enabled, and try to find if there is an “allowed” list and make sure Zoom is added on the list or is enabled in the list of apps.

Lastly, she can also try a fresh reinstall of the Zoom App. Download the latest version from the official site: https://zoom.us/download and reinstall it fresh and test the camera again.

This is happening to me as well. When someone did not have their camera on, it at least showed the participants names.  Now all I see is a black screen. This just started a few weeks ago, but occurs on all of my Zoom calls where someone's camera is off. It is allowing people to sit on a Zoom call without everyone knowing they are there and is real problem.
