Meeting Controls Toolbar Won't Hide on Linux - Even With Setting Disabled

Platform: Linux Mint 22 (Cinnamon Desktop) Zoom Version: 7.0.0.0 (same issue exists in both flatpak and .deb version) System: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, Ubuntu-based distro - Linux Mint

Issue Description: The meeting controls toolbar (mute, video, participants, etc.) at the bottom of the Zoom window will not hide during active meetings on Linux, even when the "Keep meeting controls visible" setting is disabled in Settings > Meetings & webinars > Controls. On Windows and macOS, pressing Alt hides/shows the controls dynamically. On Linux, the toolbar remains permanently visible regardless of keyboard input or mouse position.

What I've Already Tried:

  1. Unchecked "Keep meeting controls visible" in Settings > Meetings & webinars > Controls section (still visible)

  2. Tested all keyboard shortcuts:

  • Alt key (no effect)
  • Ctrl+Alt+Shift+H (no effect)
  • Ctrl+L (no effect)
  • F11 (fullscreen mode - controls still visible)
  1. Tested with multiple Zoom installations:
  • .deb version (installed at /usr/bin/zoom, v7.0.0.0) - same issue
  • Flatpak version (us.zoom.Zoom) - identical behavior
  1. Checked system logs:
  • ~/.zoom/logs/zoom_stdout_stderr.log - no errors related to UI controls
  • ~/.var/app/us.zoom.Zoom/.zoom/logs/ - Flatpak logs show identical behavior
  1. Tried workarounds:
  • Launching with --disable-gpu flag (no change)
  • Moving mouse away from controls (they remain visible)
  • Right-clicking on Zoom window (no hide option appears)
  • Waiting for focus changes (controls persist)
  1. Verified this is system-wide:
  • Both .deb and Flatpak packages affected
  • Affects all meetings, not just specific meeting types
  • Multiple Linux distributions report same issue in community forums

System Information: OS: Linux Mint 22 (Cinnamon) Zoom Version: 7.0.0.0 (both .deb and Flatpak) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU Driver: NVIDIA 580.142 OpenGL: 4.6 Kernel: 6.x Display Server: X11

Related Reports: Other Linux users have reported this same issue: Linux Mint forums: Controls bar cannot be hidden. Zoom Community: "Hiding the (annoying) screen sharing control bar with Linux client" (even though my issue is regular controls, not screen share). Multiple users on MX Linux, Ubuntu, and other distros confirm same problem.

Expected Behavior: When "Keep meeting controls visible" is disabled, the toolbar should hide and show dynamically (as it does on Windows/macOS) or at minimum provide a way to hide it.

Current Impact: The controls bar takes up space at the bottom of meetings and cannot be hidden, reducing the usable meeting area, especially problematic for presentations, screen sharing, or when recording.

Request: Please investigate and fix the meeting controls hiding functionality for Linux. This appears to be a longstanding bug affecting all Linux users.

Thank you.
