Make one of my students the host

I run a weekly live class and will be away next week. One of my students has agreed to run the meeting for me. How do I give him the ability to run the meeting while I'm away?

In order to add your student as alternative host, you need to pay for the student account to become a licensed user where you can add the new licensed user at https://us02web.zoom.us/account/user#/.

Then you can go to https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/schedule and add that user at the bottom above the "Save" button.

Is there a way to allow the meeting to happen without me being there and without having to pay for another account. This is the only time I'll ever need to do this.

Yes, you can disable waiting room and go to Meeting options to select: Allow participants to join anytime

Also you may allow

Approve or block entry for users from specific countries/regions

Only allow users from: The United States Or the countries you select.

Maybe without the host joining, screen sharing is not possible.

Oh, actually, you can allow all participants to share screen in the settings:

https://us02web.zoom.us/profile/setting and scroll down to Screen Sharing to set it so all your students to share screens when they need it.

Also you set up your host key at https://zoom.us/profile， so your student may claim the host role using that key. Later on you may change the key as needed.
