Looking for a headset/earbuds with independent hardware mic mute on Windows 11

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a Bluetooth headset or earbuds that have a hardware/device-side microphone mute function that works independently from Zoom's mute function.

I'm using Windows 11 and Zoom for remote work. What I want is:

Zoom should still show my microphone as unmuted

I press a physical mute button on the headset/earbuds

The headset itself stops transmitting my microphone audio

The other participants cannot hear me

Zoom's mute status/icon should not change

The reason is that I sometimes have children making noise around me while I'm working from home. I want to be able to temporarily mute my microphone without Zoom showing that I have muted myself.

I've been looking at the Shokz OpenComm2, since I found information suggesting that it may support local/device-side muting when connected directly to a PC via Bluetooth.

Has anyone actually tested this with Windows 11 + Zoom?

Does the OpenComm2 really mute the microphone locally while Zoom continues to show the microphone as unmuted?

I'd also appreciate recommendations for any other headset or earbuds that can do this.

Thanks!
