Live Streaming Banner Appears When Using Fathom

The “Live Streaming” alert that shows up when using the Fathom app is confusing and inaccurate. Fathom is not live streaming to a public platform — it’s recording for private transcription. This alert disrupts client trust and should be revisited. Please allow us to disable it or show a more accurate message.

Here is what Fathom told me and it’s working. Hope this helps. 🙂

Just a heads-up about the “This meeting is being livestreamed” message you or your participants might see during a call — it’s nothing to worry about! This doesn’t mean your meeting is being broadcast online. It just allows Fathom to capture higher-quality video and record in Gallery mode, which has been a top request from users.

One of the most common questions we get is: "Is my meeting actually being livestreamed?" The answer is no — it’s not being shared anywhere. It simply means Fathom is receiving the audio and video in real-time from Zoom.

That said, if you’d prefer to turn this off, you can do that from your Fathom account settings (see the image below). Once it's toggled off, that livestream message will no longer appear in your calls.

- I can’t attach the image but it’s the first toggle that turns off “Enhanced Recording”.

hi @coacherin ,

Fathom uses the live streaming function to gain access to the meeting content. That is why you can see the streaming.

Some other apps using the recording function to gain access to the video and audio feed.

hope that explains it

I understand that and while I appreciate your attempt to explain, I wasn't looking for an explanation. I am looking for zoom to have the ability to differentiate the difference between a bot AI notetaker and live streaming function. This may be soming that needs to be taken up with Fathom as well. I have been using these two apps together for a long time with clients and this change is highly disruptive to my busness and degrades client trust. Its also not an accurate representation of the function of the software to the lay person.

this is SO helpful, thank you so much!  I spent so much time looking for which button needed to be clicked or not clicked that I jacked up my whole Zoom/Fathom experience (sigh).  But I think it's all fixed now.  Thanks again!
