Linux client permanently shows unwanted input box

Here on Debian 13 I have Zoom Workplace version 7.1.0(3715). My desktop comes from LXQt.

When I launch the client, a small input window appears, with the instruction, “Type or paste link”. I recognize this as a user-input element normally found on the screen that comes up when I select “Join a meeting” on the main startup screen. But this little input window comes up prematurely. It doesn’t move when I try to reposition the initial screen, and it just stays in front of all the other windows as long as Zoom is running. I don’t expect to see this at all, so this feels like a bug.

 

I tried completely removing my directory ~/.zoom and then reinstalling the client, but the problem persists. Suggestions welcome … thanks!

      I am having the same problem.  Ubuntu 26.04.  zoom version 7.1.0 3715 amd64.  There actually are two floating bars that are just there and I don’t know how to close them.  Here is what they look like (the two floating bars; the pinkish-gray color is my background wall paper).  Otherwise, the zoom program seems to work just fine.

        I am having the same problem with the CentOS RPM install on ALT Linux 11.  I see one floating bar.   The only work around is either reinstall an older version if you have an RPM or DEB available or use a Firefox or Chrome extension to run Zoom in a browser.

          I also have this problem on Linux, using Xfce. I’ve been able to close the input box and what looks like formatting controls by clicking on each of them and then pressing ESC. Only recently switched to Linux as a desktop so it’s good to know this is a bug.

            Nice to know that ESC closes these floating bars.  I confirm that.

            I also see this problem using openSUSE Leap 16.0 with the Xfce desktop. It is an annoying bug, so I will definitely try the ESC workaround...

            Same problem here, on XFCE Mint. ESC works, but only per session. So next time zoom starts, the annoying floating bars appear again.

            Thank you for your feedback, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We have identified the cause of the issue, and it will be fixed in the upcoming version 7.1.5. In the meantime, please use the "Esc" method as a workaround.

            I have the same issue under Debian 12, XFCE. I will use the ESC workaround until the bug is fixed.
