What you're experiencing is usually due to Speaker View being active in Zoom, which automatically enlarges the video of the person speaking (the "Active Speaker").

While you cannot completely stop your video from enlarging for other participants if they are also using Speaker View, you can control what you see on your own screen to make yourself more comfortable.

Here are two primary ways to prevent your video from being large and in charge on your own display:

Change Your View Layout

The easiest way to stop the main window from switching to the active speaker (including yourself) is to change your viewing mode.

• Switch to Gallery View:

  • In the top-right corner of the Zoom meeting window, click the View button.

  • Select Gallery.

  • In Gallery View, all participants' tiles are displayed in a grid, and the active speaker (even if it's you) is simply highlighted with a yellow/green border, which matches your preference for just a highlighted tile.

Hide Your Own Video (Self View)

If you switch to Gallery View but still find your own highlighted tile distracting, you can hide your video from your own screen entirely.3 Other participants will still see your video feed (if your camera is on), but you won't.

1. Hover over your own video tile in the meeting.

2. Click the ellipsis icon (4$\dots$ or three dots) that appears in the top-right corner of your video tile.5

3. Select Hide Self View.

To bring your video back, click the View button in the top-right corner of the meeting window and select Show Self View.
