Issues Converting Meeting

Hello,

I'm having an issue with a local Zoom recording that I cannot convert.

The meeting was recorded locally and I heard both the "Recording in progress" and "Recording stopped" voice prompts. After stopping the recording, the meeting remained open for about 5 more minutes before it automatically ended because the session expired. Zoom was not closed manually, my computer did not crash, and there was no power outage.

The recording folder contains:

  • double_click_to_convert_01.zoom (327 MB)
  • double_click_to_convert_02.zoom (1.5 MB)
  • recording.conf
  • zoomver.tag

When I double-click double_click_to_convert_01.zoom, nothing happens. Zoom does not start the conversion and does not display any error message.

Here is what I have already tried:

  • Reinstalled the latest version of Zoom.
  • Ran Zoom as Administrator.
  • Opened the .zoom file while Zoom was already running.
  • Tried opening the recording on a different Windows computer with Zoom installed.
  • Verified that the recording folder contains all the original files.
  • The behavior is always the same: no conversion starts and no error is shown.

I also verified that the recording file is approximately 327 MB, which suggests the recording data exists.

Is there any way to manually rebuild or convert this recording? Is there any internal repair tool or another method to recover the recording?

This recording is very important to me, and I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you very much.

If Zoom won't convert the .zoom file on any computer, the recording may not have finalized properly. Try opening it from Zoom > Meetings > Recorded, and if that fails, contact Zoom Support with the entire recording folder—they may be able to recover it.

The recording does not appear in the Zoom app, and I cannot contact technical support because I have a free Zoom account. 😞

Here’s something you can try. Start a new meeting, pause recording, replace the new small .zoom file with your corrupted one, then end the meeting to trigger conversion.

Thanks, I’m glad to hear that! I’d like to take credit but I got that suggestion from a search engine. 🙂
