Is there a way to prevent AI Companion from joining meetings with particular domains?

Hi all,

I recently renewed our Workplace Plus licenses and added Zoom AI Companion Plus along with a few ZRA licenses.  I'm configuring the AI settings on the backend before rolling it out to everyone.

One issue I've hit is I can't find a way to create a rule that prevents AI Companion from joining meetings when specific domains are invited.  This comes from a number of clients who've requested that AI notetakers not join their calls.  In Fireflies, I could add these domains to a blocked list that kept AI notetakers off the call.  I'm trying to replicate that here.

Any guidance would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

As far as I'm aware, Zoom AI Companion currently does not offer a domain-based exclusion list similar to Fireflies' blocked domains feature. AI Companion controls are generally managed at the account, group, user, or meeting level rather than automatically disabling AI features based on invited participant domains.

Possible workarounds include:

  • Disabling AI Companion for specific meetings when you know restricted clients will attend.
  • Creating separate meeting templates with AI Companion turned off.
  • Training hosts to manually disable AI Companion when external attendees request it.

Since this is a common compliance and client-preference requirement, it would be a valuable feature request for Zoom. You may also want to check with Zoom Support or your account representative, as AI Companion settings are evolving rapidly and there may be newer controls available in your plan.

At this time, Zoom AI Companion does not appear to offer a domain-based exclusion list that automatically disables AI features when participants from specific organizations are invited. Unlike Fireflies, there isn't currently a built-in setting to block AI Companion based on attendee email domains.

Your best options are:

  • Disable AI Companion for specific meetings where clients have requested no AI note-taking.
  • Create separate meeting templates with AI features turned off.
  • Establish an internal policy for hosts to manually disable AI Companion when restricted domains are present.

Given the growing number of organizations with AI-related compliance requirements, this would be a valuable feature request for Zoom. It may also be worth checking with Zoom Support or your account manager, as AI Companion capabilities are evolving rapidly and new controls may become available.
