iPad connects to Zoom AirPlay on Windows, but screen does not appear

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue sharing my iPad screen to Zoom on Windows.

When I go to Share Screen   iPhone/iPad via AirPlay, my iPad detects the Zoom AirPlay receiver and shows that it is connected. However, nothing appears in Zoom on my Windows computer. The screen does not start sharing.

The strange thing is that my iPhone works correctly with the same Zoom meeting, same Windows computer, and same Wi-Fi network. The issue only happens with the iPad.

I already tried:

Stopping and restarting Screen Mirroring
Closing and reopening Zoom
Restarting the iPad
Checking that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi
Trying the connection again from the beginning

The iPad still shows that it is connected to Zoom, but Zoom does not display the iPad screen.

Has anyone experienced this with an iPad on Zoom for Windows? Is there a specific iPad setting or workaround I should try?

Thanks!

I ran into something very similar before with an iPad even though the iPhone worked fine on the same network.

A few things you could try:

    • Make sure the iPad is not connected through VPN, Private Relay, or any ad-blocking DNS app. Those sometimes break AirPlay discovery even when it says “connected.”

    • On the iPad, try disabling and re-enabling Wi-Fi before reconnecting to Zoom AirPlay.

    • Check if the iPad is running a newer or much older iPadOS version compared to the iPhone. I’ve seen compatibility issues with certain Zoom desktop versions.

    • In Zoom on Windows, try going to Settings → Share Screen and enable/disable “Use TCP connection for screen sharing” and test again.

    • Also try connecting the iPad with the “Share via Cable” option instead of AirPlay to see if Zoom can detect it properly that way.

    • If possible, update both Zoom for Windows and the iPadOS version to the latest release.

Since your iPhone works, it sounds more like an iPad-specific AirPlay handshake issue rather than a network problem.

    Hopefully one of these helps!

Since your iPhone works correctly under the exact same conditions, the issue is probably related to the iPad’s AirPlay or screen mirroring compatibility rather than Zoom itself. One thing worth checking is whether the iPad is using “Stage Manager,” external display settings, or any multitasking mode that can interfere with AirPlay capture on Windows.

    You could also try:

    • Disabling and re-enabling AirPlay Receiver permissions in Zoom

    • Updating both iPadOS and the Zoom desktop client

    • Turning off Private Wi-Fi Address on the iPad network settings temporarily

    • Testing with “Share via Cable” instead of AirPlay to see if the issue is specifically wireless mirroring

    • Resetting the iPad network settings

There have been cases where certain iPadOS versions show the AirPlay connection as successful while the actual video stream never initializes properly in Zoom for Windows.
