How to record

I just hosted a meeting in zoom in hopes that it would automatically record the session. Can someone please tell me how to start a meeting (I will be doing a mock role play interview) and need to record and send the link for an assignment. I thought I recorded 11 mins but I guess I didn’t as I cannot locate it anywhere in my recordings, it says empty. I have a MAC if that matters.
