Host video not visible in recorded session

Hi. I have recorded a zoom meeting session

During meeting i had also shared my (host) screen for sharing ppt

During the session , I could see my (host) and others video

However in the recorded session only ppt is visible. My (host)  video is appearing in some section and gets disappeared in some section of the recording.

Ppt is visible though

I want to understand which settings to be enabled to ensure that host video appears consistently throughout the recorded version

    Hi Arpit,

This is typically related to the recording layout and recording settings used for the meeting.

    Please try the following:

    1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
    2. Go to Settings > Recording.
    3. Under Cloud Recording, enable Record thumbnails when sharing so the presenter's video is included alongside shared content.
    4. Select a recording layout such as:
      • Record active speaker with shared screen, or
      • Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately.
    5. During the meeting, if you want the host's video to remain visible while presenting, use Spotlight Video instead of Pin Video, as pinning does not affect cloud recordings.

If the issue persists, please let us know whether you're using Local Recording or Cloud Recording so the community can help narrow down the cause.

    Hi

    Thank you for the response

I had used local recording option

In some parts of the recorded video , my video is visible and in some parts it is not visible

    Hi, everyone.

From a historical perspective, there used to be a dizzying number of options for “Local Recordings” back in 2024. But back then they simplified the options.  Go to your Workplace app’s Settings > Recording menu, where there are really only two options:

When Record video during screen sharing is Enabled as shown here, you should get the “Active Speaker” shown in the recording when a screen share is active.  You might be able to control who will appear in the video by using the Spotlight feature, but I’d have to test that to be sure.

The Show video and screen share side-by-side checkbox controls where the camera video appears.  If Checked, the camera video is placed adjacent to, but not overlaying, the screen share.  If Unchecked, the camera video will be in the upper corner of the screen share, overlaying some of the screen share, but maintaining the pixel size of the original screen share (usually but not always 1920x1080).

I’m planning to do some testing on this, as it’s been a while since I verified the actual outputs from a Computer/Local Recording.  I’ll stop back by with some information if I find anything interesting.
