Green Background with "None" selected

I have been running Zoom meetings on my MacBook Pro for years with great success.   Recently when using my video on Zoom, my camera now broadcasts a green screen when no back ground is selected in the video function.   The Zoom green screen button is turned off.   The MBP camera works fine in other applications.

I have uninstalled and downloaded Zoom with no luck.   I would welcome any thoughts on how to resolve this as the video quality is horrible and disruptive.   On a Zoom call yesterday the green screen effect was completely covering me over during the meeting.   Humorous for sure but very unproductive.

Thanks for any hel

Dear @GregV1 , dear @Heidi Thompson ,

the green background is most likely generated by the operating system of your computer.

E.g., if you are on MacOS:

When you are in a Zoom meeting, you should see a camera icon (white camera on a green square in the task bar at the top of your screen.
When you click on that, you should be able to set, modify the effects put onto the video in video meetings that are created by Mac OS.
Please also see this support article from Apple:

If you are on Windows 11 24H2, this could come from Windows Studio Effects, a new Windows feature.

This documentation should help in turning off or modifying any effects:

It sounds like Zoom is showing a green background even when “None” is selected because the Mac itself is applying a camera effect, not Zoom.

On macOS, there is a camera icon in the top menu bar when your video is on. If you click that icon, you can turn off any background or effects added by the computer itself.

So try this:

  1. Start a Zoom meeting and turn your video on.

  2. Look at the top of your screen for a small camera icon.

  3. Click it and turn off any background effects there.

This should stop the green screen from showing when “None” is selected.

Hope that helps!
