Feature Request - Near-End Camera Control

Hello, Community!

My team and I regularly submit feature requests (like, a LOT of feature requests) to Zoom, but I'm looking to get in the habit of sharing these here so that if other community users feel that the proposed features (sometimes blatant oversights or bug-fixes that get classified as 'features' by Zoom dev teams) are useful, additional feature requests can be lodged to gain traction.

////

Requested Feature: Near-End Camera Control

Description: Ability to control PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) of a Zoom-certified UVC-compatible webcam directly from the Zoom application. If supported by the camera, additional UVC standards parameters could be modified (contrast, brightness, saturation, focus).

Context: Zoom Client currently has access to UVC controls (PTZ) with its far-end camera control options, but offers no option for near-end control. More simply, others can be delegated access to control your camera, but you can't even control it yourself!!

Use-case: Zoom Client users may wish to adjust their webcams and currently need to do so using a 3rd-party utility. Increases productivity, reduces bloatware.

Estimated implementation effort: Minimal. Again, Zoom Client is already able to control compatible cameras, but the control is not given to the local user. Mac and Windows Zoom Rooms systems have full control access to local cameras as well.

////

If you think near-end control is a feature that you or your users would utilize, please be sure to submit a formal feature request!

Hi @bstrelko,

I appreciate the job you do with feature requests (sometimes I always do that by creating tickets on Zoom Support portal) but could you please share the way how you are reporting feature requests? What portal, link or app do you use? Currently Zoom asks to make it by using Zoom application > Help > Give Feedback.

I will either submit a ticket requesting a formal intake form (Zoom provides a document to be filled out) or use the new Feature Requests portal for CCs and Premier+ partners.

Using the 'Give Feedback' option is theoretically a valid option, but dumps these requests into a massive mailbox along with ALL other user-level feedback (not specifically admin), most of which relates to issues easliy solved by reading public KB articles.

Agree,  'Give Feedback' is not an option...

We are Zoom Gold partner, maybe you know why I do not have the same possibility to use the same forms as you can (submit a ticket requesting a formal intake form (Zoom provides a document to be filled out) or use the new Feature Requests portal for CCs and Premier+ partners)?

Camera Zoom using Zoom makes perfect sense.

I requested this before the COVID Lockdowns in the UK, the reply I got from, I think someone high up in the company at the time, said that it would make sense. I can only imagine that this was then implemented on the Client Side but not the Local side (I may be getting mixed up by what these represent as a Counsellor).

Most of the time I run my sessions on the Windows PC.  When I run my Counselling Sessions, I'm not sure what my client can do with their Zoom (yes, I get them to download your app, how good am I to you guys!) but whilst running the meeting or even setting it up, I'm unable to adjust my camera settings during the meeting without doing so on OBS or in Settings baseline of PC.  I can't do that when using the App on the Android Mobile Phone.

I'm looking forward to being able to do this. Do we have an estimated ETA for it to be implemented?
