Feature Request: Native Wayland support and optimization for Linux

Hello, I am writing to request full native Wayland support and optimization for the Zoom Linux client. Currently, many users (including myself) experience issues with screen sharing, window management, and overall performance when using Wayland compositors (GNOME/Mutter, KDE/Kwin).

Relying on XWayland is no longer a viable long-term solution as the Linux ecosystem is rapidly moving to Wayland by default. We need:

  1. Native PipeWire/Portal integration for screen sharing.

  2. Better resource management (CPU/RAM optimization) under Wayland.

  3. Fixes for screen flickering and window focus issues.

This is critical for users on modern distributions like Ubuntu 24.04/26.04 and Fedora.

Zoom is totally un-useable on Ubuntu 26.04 - which will be the current LTS release in less than a months time!

As default Ubuntu 26.04 drops X11 support, native Wayand support needs to be prioritised by Zoom.

Wayland support is absolutely abysmal. The only way to get screen sharing to work reliably is to use v4l loopback via OBS screen capture, which is horrendously complicated for non-experts and unacceptable for an AAA productivity app like Zoom.

Zoom is a unstable steaming pile.  Every update just gets worse.

@zoom This is a major issue for us too. Weve already moved our Office computers to Ubuntu 24.04 With KDE-PLasma. Most of our computers are ok but were having issues with other companies that are switching to linux where they cannot screen share unless they switch to X11.
We need better Linux support. Not on every platform but the primary ones. Debian, Redhat etc.
Id hate to have to retool and switch to an entirely new Platform after using Zoom for nearly a decade..
