Feature Request: Ability to start/host meetings/PMR from SIP
F.A.O. Product Management
Having reviewed the related posts below and the response to my own SR -- (TS2388200 - Unable to start Zoom Meetings from SIP endpoint) -- “that it’s a platform limitation”, if this is not a technical limitation but a policy choice to protect CRC licence rental, I write to ask you to reconsider.
Unlike competitors’ comparable products to Zoom’s paid meetings product, with Zoom, you can’t directly host a meeting from SIP -- without an additional “CRC” licence.
The simple, but unwieldy and tedious workaround is:-
- As Host, start the Pro meeting or PMR from WebRTC/app
- As Host, from your SIP endpoint, call the SIP address of the Pro meeting/PMR
- As Hoist, from WebRTC/app admit yourself into the Pro meeting/PMR
- As Host, from WebRTC/app immediately “Exit” assigning yourself on the SIP endpoint as Host on your way out
- As Host, from your SIP endpoint Host your Pro Meeting/PMR (and subsequent meetings)
In January 2025 Zoom announced that Pro licencees could join meetings of Workplace Basic meetings and other Workplace Pro meetings licencees without need for a CRC licence.
18 months later, arguably with market shakeout, base products having to bundle more features to remain competitive and the unnecessary and inaccurate dualism of SIP with post-COVID increasingly anachronistic “Conference rooms”, kindly consider whether the time has come to remove the hosting restriction and permit Pro licencees to start/host meetings from SIP directly, without need for a convoluted workaround (as competitors alread do).
Thank you.
