error installing zoom outlook plugin

i had the zoom outlook plugin successfully up and running on my PC (Windows 11, Outlook 2024 LTSC) but the latest update of the plugin didn't install, showing error message "error applying transforms. verify that the specified transform paths are valid" (in german) on setup.

Tried several things including uninstalling the plugin which worked but didn't fix the issue. Now the outlook plugin is all gone but still whenever i try to reinstall it i get this error message.

Any ideas how to fix this issue and get the zoom outlook plugin installed again ?

Hey,

you need to change the Windows OS Language to English. It needs to be english it dosent work with any other language, only then can you install it.

Hi Woru,

It sounds like the issue might be caused by leftover files or registry entries from the previous installation. To fix it, try using the Microsoft Install and Uninstall Troubleshooter to clean up any residual plugin files. Next, clear your temporary files using Disk Cleanup or a tool like CCleaner. If the issue persists, check for any leftover registry entries related to the plugin (but be cautious when editing the registry). Once everything is cleaned up, download the latest version of the plugin directly from Zoom's website and try reinstalling it. Hopefully, this will resolve the issue. Thanks!

Hello AlexanderWilson,

thanks for the hints. These three steps are exactly what i already tried before posting my problem here. Unfortunately the problem wasn't solved that way (btw the MS troubleshooter seems to be no longer supported, still i gave it a try). Anything else i can do ? Is there any way to get more detailed information that might be useful helping identify the root cause ?

Thank you very much for this hint. After changing language to english i could install the plugin without problems. If i change language back to german after installation the plugin works perfectly in german.

Anyway, this looks to me like a serious bug on Zoom side as i did update that plugin several times before already without any issues while my PC language was german all the time.

This bug will be fixed on Jan 16, 2025. Please download the new installer and check whether the issue can be resolved. This issue only occurs on the any other OS language other than English. So if your urgent, please switch the OS language to English and install the current plugin.

Apologize to bring you any inconvenience.

The error suggests remnants of a previous installation are causing issues. Here's how to fix it:

  1. Uninstall Completely: Use Control Panel or a tool like CCleaner to remove all traces of the plugin.
  2. Clean the Registry: Open regedit, search for Zoom Outlook plugin keys under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products, and delete them (backup first).
  3. Clear Temp Files: Delete files in %temp% and %appdata% folders.
  4. Download Latest Version: Get the updated plugin from the Zoom Download Center.
  5. Run as Admin: Right-click the installer and choose Run as Administrator.

If it persists, contact Zoom Support.
