Downloading Zoom Desktop Client 5.16.5 for macOS hangs

When I discovered the Zoom Desktop Client on my iMac was slightly out-of-date (5.16.2), I tried several times to download the latest release.  Each time, the zoomusInstallerFull.pkg.download file appears in my Downloads folder, but the download hangs right at the start with only 11 KB downloaded.

 

I have no problem downloading apps from other sites.

    Having the same issue on 11-09-2023. Tried switching users, signing in and out, extensions off…nothing works. Download starts at a measly 32kb a second and then times out.

    Mine downloads (extremely slow) but won't install. Any ideas?

    Yes! I found a workaround!

    Go to the web interface and enter your account info. Schedule a meeting for a few minutes away then when you click on "Start" you'll see a line of small blue text giving you the option of downloading the desktop app. For some reason that link connects to a different server and downloaded the Install file in a few seconds.
