Designer of assistive devices seeking more hotkey options.
During Covid, I built an assistive device which the device being used for Zoom meetings sees as a keyboard.
It has buttons on it that allow for very quick and easy access to two functions, Mic Mute, and Raising your Hand. It works very well on Windows, though I have not had a user using Mac to test it on that platform.
I inquired about this first question in 2021 or so, and I was told it was actually being worked on. I understand why keyboard shortcuts for toggling Mute and the Hand are used, as the user most of the time can see the indicators on screen. Assistive devices, though would work so much better if there was separate keys for Muting, and Unmuting, as well as Raising the hand, and Lowering the hand. I would never suggest removing the current keys, but perhaps keys that perform these functions could be added? Could that be possible?
Another question I have has to do with mobile devices, which more and more are being used with keyboards. I feel that it would be of great benefit for more of these basic hotkeys be added to not only the IOS app, but to the Android app as well! This would open the door for many more elderly or disabled users to have a much better experience! Even the toggles would make it possible to get part way there!
Our religious group, Jehovah’s Witnesses, from what I understand, has a large account arrangement with Zoom, and I know for certain many of our users would be thrilled to see improvements like these.
Thank you for your consideration;
