Creating a zoom meeting that is streaming a music recital. Need the correct Audio Settings for a live music setting.

I have a MacBook Pro and Chrome browser that I am using for a live music recital.  I struggle with knowing exactly how to set up the meeting with the correct audio settings for the Listener/Viewer.  Do I determine the correct audio settings when I create the meeting or when I actually begin the meeting?  I did this before and something wasn’t right but couldn’t determine what exactly was wrong.

Grateful for some guidelines.

Hi @Ed Edwards -- Thank you for joining the Zoom Community!

For live music, you’ll get the best sound by adjusting your audio settings right before or after the meeting starts, not when you create it. The meeting creation step just sets up the time and link — audio quality is controlled from within the Zoom client once you’ve joined.

    Here’s how to prepare:

    1. Join your meeting from the Zoom desktop client on your Mac (not the browser, since Chrome + Zoom in-browser limits audio options).
    2. Click the arrow next to the microphone icon ▶ Audio Settings ▶ Music and Professional Audio.
    3. Turn on “Show in‑meeting option to enable ‘Original sound for music’ .”
    4. Once in the meeting, click Turn on Original Sound at the top‑left of the window.
    5. Optionally check High‑fidelity music mode and Stereo audio if your microphone and network can handle it. These features preserve the full music range by turning off Zoom’s automatic noise suppression.
    6. Ask your listeners to use good headphones or speakers and confirm their own volume/output settings.

Tip: Do a short test session first to compare how it sounds with Original Sound on vs. off so you can be sure your chosen setup reproduces your music clearly.

If you must use Chrome instead of the desktop app, note that browser audio is limited to standard voice quality—so for any live musical performance, the Zoom desktop client is strongly recommended.
