Closed Captions

It’s understandable to wonder why enabling captions is tied to the meeting host, especially when you’re the participant who needs them. At this time, Live Transcription is a meeting-level setting in Zoom, so the host controls whether it’s enabled for the meeting.

If you’re a participant and need captions, you’ll need to ask the host to enable live transcription for the meeting. We understand that this may not always be ideal, particularly when captions are needed for accessibility by an individual participant.

We appreciate you sharing this feedback and understand why having the option to enable captions individually could be helpful. At this time, all feature requests are managed through our feature request submission process. We encourage you to submit this idea there so it can be passed along to the relevant product team for review.
