Chat Reactions Not Working

For some strange reason, I do not have the ability to add a reaction emoji to Zoom chat messages. They are enabled on my Zoom instance and also on another host's Zoom where this happens. Everyone else in the group can add emojis, but whether I hover, long click, right-click, double click, etc. on a message, I never get the reaction bubble that lets me add an emoji.

Before anyone suggests this, I have already gone into my meeting settings to ensure that reactions are enabled.

I'm on a MacBook Pro and I have a paid Zoom account. Any help would be appreciated - thank you!

    Hello,

Note: Animated reactions require version 5.13.0 or higher for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, as well as devices meeting the virtual background system requirements.

    Regards

Ah - thanks so much! It does look like my version is out of date. It sounds like an update will fix it - thank you again!

    Hi there,

It’s frustrating when features like reaction emojis aren’t working as expected. Since you’ve confirmed that reactions are enabled in your settings and others can use them, here are a few additional steps to try:

    1. Update Zoom: Ensure your Zoom client is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, outdated software can cause feature issues.

    2. Check Zoom Permissions: Go to Zoom Preferences > Meetings > In-Meeting (Basic) and verify that "Allow participants to use reactions" is enabled.

    3. Verify Host Settings: Double-check with the meeting host to ensure there are no restrictions on reactions for certain participants.

    4. Restart Zoom and MacBook: Sometimes, simply restarting Zoom or your computer can resolve unexpected glitches.

    5. Reinstall Zoom: If none of the above work, try reinstalling Zoom to fix any potential software issues.

If these steps don’t resolve the problem, consider reaching out to Zoom Support for further assistance.

Best of luck, and I hope you get this sorted out soon!
