Background blur

How do I turn on the background blur on zoom in web browser? I can’t use the zoom desktop app (whenever I try to download it tells me it’s not compatible with my computer) so I use the zoom in web browser by clicking the tiny text that says if it’s not working you can open the zoom meeting in the web browser instead of the app. I know how to turn on the background blur on the desktop app when it used to work on my computer but I can’t find how to turn it on within the web browser.

Hi @purplemidge, welcome to Zoom Community! To enable background blur on your web app via desktop browser:

  1. Join or start a meeting through the Zoom web app.
  2. In the meeting controls toolbar, next to the Start Video / Stop Video icon, click the up arrow icon ^ .
  3. Click Choose Background.
  4. Choose from the following options:
    • Under Choose Background, click on an image to select the desired virtual background.
    • Add your own image by clicking the add icon (+) to select the image you want to upload.
Note: If you cannot add an image, you can contact your Zoom admin to enable this feature.
  5. Close the window to return to the meeting.

Note that this feature is not available for mobile browsers.

There is no Background option when clicking through Start/Stop video via the carrot/chevron icon. I only see camera, mirror my video and video settings. No blur background option. This is infuriating as it used to be there and now it's gone. This shouldn't be this hard to blur a background. Make it easier please do this if you don't have the app downloaded.

Thank you! I was hosting a meeting this morning and usually am the participant and remember where backgrounds are. 🙂
