background

For weeks I have had several people try to help me and to no avail. My Chromebook and my phone will not let me change the background on my zoom picture. I have tried doing it during a meeting when my camera is on and when the camera is off. If I use Virtual backgrounds it just comes up error it does not give me an option to use my own photo for a background. My phone should support this process according to the specifications. I don't understand. I have uninstalled soon twice and still the problem persists

    Hi @Mary Ft Myers,

I’m sorry for getting to your post late. On Chromebooks, the “Virtual Background” feature can be limited, and the ability to add your own image can also be disabled by an account setting.

    Try these checks:

    1. Confirm the account setting allows custom backgrounds (web portal)
    • Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
    • Go to Settings (Meeting tab).
    • Find Virtual background.
    • Make sure it’s enabled, and look for the option that allows users to upload/use their own background images.
    • If you’re on a work/school account, your Zoom admin may need to enable it. If you can’t add an image, Zoom’s guidance is: “If you cannot add an image, contact your Zoom admin to enable this feature.”
    1. On your phone
    • In the Zoom mobile app, go to a meeting → More → Background & effects (wording may vary).
    • If you only see built-in backgrounds and no “+” / “Add” option, that usually points back to the account setting above (or a device/app limitation).
