Audio gain reduction and streaming.

I've been reading that when I use my Yamaha MG10XU mixer, the voice output to zoom (and then to remote attendees) is reduced and I must increase the gain and consequently more noise.    Is this true?

I'm running W11 on a thinkpad i7 64 bit, 24gb Memory.  Using Ethernet or wifi connections?  Zoom Ver 6.5.12

Thank you for your assistance.  Peter

Would be helpful if you’d share the source you’re referring to.

Zoom by default reduces noise and attempts to provide a sound level that essentially matches what others are sending. So my initial thought is “Not true”, but depending on your audio settings, other things could be happening.

Be sure you have installed the dedicated Yamaha USB driver, Then set the volume controls in windows not on the console. Also, mixers work best when Zoom is set for original sound.

Hi Storyhub.  Thanks for your reply.  I do have the Yamaha Driver installed.  I don’t understand why would you use the windows volume control and not the channel and or gain.  I’ve noticed that windows volume control is set to 100% and each channel is controlled via mixer gain or channel.  I guess I’m missing something.  I’m using Zoom for speaker presentations with 4 different mic in the same room.

hi @Italiangen2022 ,

I am an owner of that mixer and have used it since I first started using zoom.

It works very well and does not need any drivers.
You just need to make sure you are setting the gain correctly so that the sound level sent from the mixer is right for zoom.

hope that helps. Please like my reply if it does

Hi John,

Yamaha states that the driver needs to be installed.  Where are you testing / verifying that what the mixer is sending to zoom is right?  Are you listening to “test mic and speakers” in Zoom?  What volume setting do you have for Windows speakers, 100%?

Thanks for your help.
