Audio Dropouts During Meetings After Latest Update — Anyone Else?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone noticed brief audio dropouts since the recent Zoom desktop update? In several meetings, audio cuts out for a few seconds while video and internet stay stable.

I’ve already updated Zoom, tested different headsets, and tried both Wi-Fi and wired connections, but the issue still happens randomly — especially in longer meetings.

Curious if others are seeing this or have found a fix. Thanks!

Do you perhaps have your headset paired to you mobile phone at the same time? And getting message notifications from app like Messenger of Whatsapp?
I’ve noticed that probably when reading those messages (or maybe getting notifications??) audio from webinar disappered for me for like 2 seconds every time.
So maybe try turning off Bluetooth on you mobile phone during meeting and check if problem still persists.

Thanks for the suggestion! I don’t usually have my headset paired to my phone during meetings, but I’ll try turning off Bluetooth and notifications to see if that helps.

Actually, I was presenting a project from my website during a recent client meeting — you can check it out here: smokeycloudz.com — and that’s when I noticed these audio dropouts. I’ll see if adjusting the Bluetooth/notifications fixes the issue and report back.

I’ve had the same - very random, and luckily I’m not missing anything on calls, but clenching through-out as I know it comes back in about 5 seconds.

Hoping it gets solved soon.

I've been having the same issue for a while now (maybe a year). During longer meetings (e.g. an hour+), audio cuts out for about 10-20 seconds, video keeps working fine, and afterwards the message “Internet connection is unstable” (maybe not those exact words but you get the idea). It happens max once per meeting, seems to happen at random times, and doesn’t happen every meeting.

I have a feeling this is just a default message that appears though. I’ve had internet problems as well, but in that case both audio and video stops. With this issue video keeps working fine. I think maybe the audio part of zoom gets stuck sometimes.

I hope they find a fix for this, as it's very disruptive. Someone will be talking to me and I have to interrupt them and tell them to wait until the audio comes back.

“Internet connection is unstable”  usually means just what it says. The system will try to smooth the streams by dropping frame rate on the video (which may not be visually that noticeable) and can drop audio packets. This can be observed under statistics (more > settings > all settings > statistics). Usually using WiFi shared with other devices is often a problem or being too far from the WiFi antenna. It is always best to use an Ethernet connection.
