Annotating shared documents on screen

I regularly share my screen to annotate documents. Currently I annotate by writing with my hand held mouse, however this is becoming more difficult as my hands get older. Is there a way I could link up a tablet and 'pen' to zoom, to be able to do this as though I am writing on a piece of paper with a normal pen? If so, what would you recommend? Thank you.

    Hi @LouiseT,

    Thank you for your post!

Yes, you can use a tablet and stylus to annotate in Zoom meetings or webinars. Many users find this setup much more comfortable and natural, especially for handwriting or drawing.

Here’s how you can do it:

    • Connect your tablet (such as an iPad or Android tablet) to your computer, or join the Zoom meeting directly from your tablet.
    • Use the Zoom app on your tablet, which supports annotation tools. With a stylus, you can write or draw on shared screens or whiteboards as if you were using pen and paper.
    • If you’re using a device like an iPad, you can also use the “Share Screen” feature to share your tablet’s screen and annotate directly.

This setup allows for smoother, more precise annotations compared to using a mouse. For the best experience, use a tablet with a dedicated stylus (like Apple Pencil or Samsung S Pen).

If there is anything else you need help with, please feel free to reach out.

A tablet with a stylus is honestly way better than trying to annotate with a mouse. Writing with a pen feels much more natural and makes screen sharing a lot smoother, especially in longer sessions. Using an iPad with Apple Pencil or a Samsung tablet with S Pen really helps, it feels closer to writing on actual paper. Hope Zoom keeps improving this feature, a lot of people rely on it daily.
