After 30 minutes i get disconnected

I am using the free version of Zoom and have been tutoring students through Zoom for over a year without any issues. My meetings always used to last the normal 40 minutes.

However, during the last two days, I have started experiencing a strange problem. During tutoring sessions, I get disconnected exactly after 30 minutes, and this has now happened 4 times in a row. What is unusual is that my student does not get disconnected — only I do.

Then, once the total meeting time reaches around 40 minutes, both me and my student get disconnected from the meeting.

I am confident this is not caused by my internet connection. My internet is stable, and it would not make sense for Zoom to disconnect me at exactly 30 minutes every single time. The timing is always sharp and consistent.

I have not changed any settings, devices, or account details recently, and this issue never happened before. I also do not believe the timer is starting early.

Has anyone else experienced this recently, or does anyone know what could be causing it?

    Since the disconnection is happening at an exact and repeatable time interval, this does not sound like a normal internet stability issue. It may be related to the Zoom desktop client session, account authentication refresh, or a background security/network policy interrupting only the host connection temporarily before the normal 40-minute free-plan limit ends the meeting for everyone.

    A few things worth checking:

    • sign out completely from Zoom and sign back in

    • update or reinstall the Zoom desktop client

    • disable VPN/proxy/security software temporarily

    • check if “Join from Browser” shows the same behavior

    • try hosting from another device on the same account

    • verify that no secondary device is also logged into the same Zoom account during meetings

    Because only the host disconnects at the 30-minute mark while the participant stays connected, I would especially suspect either a client-side session refresh issue or an account/device conflict rather than bandwidth problems.
