Add Host Control to Prevent Chat Flooding
A host option to limit chat messages (for example, one message every 3–5 seconds per participant) would keep discussions manageable in open meetings, seminars, and classrooms.
The issue: In larger meetings, even one participant can send dozens of rapid messages, burying important instructions or questions and disrupting the flow. Existing features like passwords, waiting rooms, or private links help, but many sessions must remain open or semi-open.
Proposed solution: A lightweight host control to set a chat rate limit. This would not restrict normal conversation but would prevent chat flooding.
Benefits:
- Keeps discussions readable.
- Reduces disruption in open or classroom settings.
- Easy to implement as a host control.
- Saves hosts and participants from unnecessary stress.
Environment:
Device type: MacBook Pro (Apple Silicon)
Zoom version: Workplace for Mac 6.5.12 (63499)
Troubleshooting: Tried existing security settings; issue persists for open events.
