Event access - registration and group join link

Hi,

I have setup a Zoom event with ‘Registration required’ and have shared the registration link, which has resulted in a number of registrations being received.

We have a VIP group that don’t want to register individually, hence we would like to send them a Group join link instead.

Unfortunately Zoom only displays the Group join link when the ‘Registration required’ option is unticked.

My question is the following:

  • If I untick the ‘Registration required’ option temporarily and copy the displayed group join link, without saving this change, will this group join link work if I send the link to the VIP group?
  • Hence is this a viable workaround to have both registrations and a group join link?

If you enable "Registration required" for your Zoom event, only registrants can join using their unique registration links. The group join link is only available when "Registration required" is not selected.

 

If you temporarily untick "Registration required" just to view and copy the group join link—but do not save this change—the group join link will not work for your VIP group, because the event will still require registration once you save or revert the setting. The group join link only functions when registration is not required and the event is set up that way.

 

There is no supported workaround to have both registration and a group join link active at the same time for the same event. If you need both, you would need to create separate events or adjust your registration/authentication requirements accordingly.
