Hello. Recently Zoom disappeared on my Mac. After reinstalling, an X appears on the app icon and won’t open. I have Sequoia 15.7.8.

    Hi @Kenny Moles

    Thanks for reaching out.

🖥️ Zoom App Not Opening on Mac — Fix Guide

The "X" on your Zoom app icon typically means the application bundle is damaged, incomplete, or there are leftover installation files causing a conflict.  A standard reinstall often isn't enough — you'll need to do a clean uninstall first to clear all residual files.

    🧹 Step-by-Step: Clean Uninstall & Reinstall

    1️⃣ Remove the App

    • Drag Zoom Workplace from your Applications folder to the Trash
    • Empty the Trash.

    2️⃣ Delete Leftover Support Files

Open Finder, press Shift-Command-G, and check each of the following folders. Delete any Zoom-related folders you find:

    • ~/Library/Application Support/
    • ~/Library/Caches/
    • ~/Library/Preferences/
    • ~/Library/Logs/
    • ~/Library/Saved Application State/
    • /Library/Application Support/ (system-level)

    3️⃣ Restart Your Mac

Restart before reinstalling to clear any cached Launch Services data.

    4️⃣ Download a Fresh Installer

    • Go to Zoom's Download Center and download the latest Zoom Workplace installer.
    • ⚠️ Make sure to download the correct version for your Mac:
      • Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) → choose the Apple Silicon build
      • Intel Mac → choose the Intel build

    5️⃣ Install & Launch Correctly

    • Install from the downloaded package.
    • Open Zoom from the Applications folder — not from the Downloads folder.

    🔍 Quick Diagnostic (Optional)

If the issue persists, you can verify whether Zoom is installed in the expected location by opening Terminal and running:

    open /Applications/

Or drag the Zoom app icon into a Terminal window and press Return — if it returns No such file or directory, the app isn't installed where expected.

❓ A Note on Your macOS Version

Your version Sequoia 15.7.8 looks unusual for macOS Sequoia — it may be worth double-checking by going to Apple menu → About This Mac to confirm the exact version before troubleshooting any OS-specific issues.

    Hope this helps!
