    Hello @ektrontek1,

If a PowerPoint file you receive through Zoom is saving without the .pptx extension, Zoom isn’t expected to strip the extension—this is usually caused by the device/app that’s saving the download (or how the file was shared).

    Try these quick checks:

    1. Confirm how it was shared
    • Was it sent via Zoom Team Chat (file attachment), or was it shared during a meeting (screen share / in-meeting file sharing)?
    • If it was sent in Team Chat, try downloading it from the Zoom web portal instead (sometimes the desktop/mobile download flow behaves differently).
    1. Try downloading from the Zoom web portal (recommended test)
    • Sign in to Zoom on the web and open the chat/file there, then download again. If the file downloads with “.pptx” from the web, the issue is likely specific to the desktop/mobile app or your browser download settings.
    1. Check your device’s “hide extensions” / download behavior
    • On Windows, File Explorer can hide extensions, making it look like there’s no extension even when it exists.
    • Also check whether your browser or OS is saving the file with a generic name/type.
    1. Workaround: rename the file to add ".pptx."
    • Right-click the downloaded file → Rename → add ".pptx" at the end (example: presentation.pptx), then open it normally.
