Improved Private and Group Chat Experience in Zoom Meetings

While I was attending a Zoom class, I was chatting with a coursemate and accidentally sent a few messages using the “Everyone” chat option instead of sending them privately. This made me wonder if Zoom could introduce a separate, clearly distinguished chat box for one-on-one conversations within a meeting.

Sometimes, it can be difficult to tell whether a message from someone is directed specifically at me or intended for the entire class. A dedicated private chat area, with a clear distinction between private and group messages, could help prevent accidental messages from being sent to everyone and make communication during meetings much less confusing.

I think this could be a useful improvement to Zoom’s chat experience, especially for online classes and large meetings where both group and private conversations happen at the same time.

Hello @Saiful Islam Menon

If you are on the latest version of Zoom, this functionality already exists. When the chat is opened, you can see the meeting chat, and then also private message others and you will be able to see your conversations at the top of the chat. You can click into the private messages or the meeting as a whole. You can find out more information on this here: https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0064400

I hope this helps and if this answers your question please make sure to mark this as a solution.

Thank you,

Jake
