Do I need 10DLC Campaign Registration to send/receive SMS on Zoom Phone Unlimited?

Hi everyone,

I recently set up my Zoom Phone Unlimited plan (Basic) last week. In my Zoom desktop and mobile apps, I can see the SMS/Text tab option available.

However, before sending any outbound texts to customers, I want to clarify the setup process. Can I directly start sending and receiving SMS to US/Canada customer numbers right away through the app, or is registering a 10DLC (TCR) SMS campaign mandatory first?

If 10DLC registration is required for business texting on Zoom Phone, what is the current approval timeline, and will outbound texting be blocked until it is approved?

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

It would be helpful to clarify how 10DLC registration affects Zoom Phone Unlimited users who only need to send and receive SMS. In particular, knowing whether registration is required for all SMS traffic or mainly for application-to-person messaging would make the requirements easier to understand.

hi @Ayaan Rajput ,

Yes you need to get 10dlc approval for sending SMS

Zoom is not going to allow SMS on its platform unless you show observence. I am not a Zoom Employee, but I personally support this approach.

Hi, @Ayaan Rajput.  As @ExpertswhoJohn indicated -- yes, you are required to register for 10DLC before sending any texts.  You will be blocked from sending texts until approved.  My experience was that approval didn’t take long (my memory says a day or two, but that was at the beginning of the 10DLC process).  While you are registering through Zoom, the approvals are actually done by the major carriers, who created the 10DLC process which all “minor carriers” must follow.  See more information here: https://www.campaignregistry.com/
