Question

Zoom Pro

I bought Pro and it's listed on my Google subscription page however I can't access it.

I performed all the actions recommended by AI; check email address, clear cache, reinstall, reboot but I'm still on Basic and can't upgrade to Pro either on my phone or desktop.

Ironically I can't access support unless I'm on a paid plan! I really hope someone in the community can help. Thanks in advance.

Hi @Julia Ponder,

We’re glad to have you here!

If your Pro plan shows as active in your Google subscription list but Zoom still shows you as Basic, it almost always means the purchase is tied to a different Zoom sign-in than the one you’re currently using, or the in-app purchase hasn’t been restored to the app session yet. Also, Google Play subscriptions can’t be managed from the Zoom web billing portal.

Try these Google Play–specific checks:

  1. Confirm you’re signed into the correct Google account on the phone
  • On Android: Settings > Accounts (or Passwords & accounts)
  • Make sure the Google account that owns the subscription is the one currently on the device.
  1. In the Zoom Android app, sign out and sign back in using the exact same login method as before
  • If you originally created the Zoom account with Google sign-in, use “Continue with Google” again (don’t switch to email/password).
  • If you used email/password originally, use that same method again.
  1. Restore/refresh the in-app purchase from the Zoom app (if the option is available)
  • Look for a “Restore purchase” / “Restore” option in the app’s plan/subscription area.
  • If you don’t see it, proceed to step 4.
  1. Force a clean refresh of the Zoom app + Play Store session
  • Force stop Zoom (Android Settings > Apps > Zoom > Force stop)
  • Force stop Google Play Store as well
  • Reopen Google Play Store once, then reopen Zoom and check the plan again

Important notes (Google Play purchases)

  • You can’t restore or manage a Google Play subscription from the Zoom web portal; it must be handled through Google Play. Deleting/reinstalling the app doesn’t cancel or restore the subscription by itself.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to reach out if you need other Zoom related queries.

Many thanks for the reply. AI suggested all of the above which I did. The only thing that might cause the issue is that a random Gmail account was created at the time of buying Pro - it was almost the same name as my purchase address but it was created using the full name of my company- 3 words instead of 2. I make sure that my login to Zoom and Google uses my original address.

I'm thinking of unsubscribing and using my other company name because my original install of Basic was created with that. I haven't had a problem before with signing into apps with Google but they were minor apps not an important business function like Zoom.

NB you say to login the same way but AI said I *had* to login with email and password and *not* to tap Google. Naturally I didn't have the password so I had to request a new one.

Actually I think I've convinced myself to unsubscribe and use my original business email; the new deal for Pro is a lot cheaper than the one I'm currently on through Google.
