urgent: System-Induced Billing Loop

Dear Zoom Billing and Account Management,

I am writing to formally demand the immediate manual override and termination of my Zoom account associated with this email address: mercyekoh@outlook.com.

Due to a technical UI error on your platform, I was mistakenly signed up for an Annual Plan paid in monthly installments, instead of a standard month-to-month subscription.

Your self-service dashboard has locked my account into an impossible, contradictory billing loop:

  1. I cannot deactivate the plan because its annual even though the deductions are monthly. I have not used that account in the last two months so I’m debited for nothing.
  2. I cannot terminate my account because the system states I have an active plan.
  3. When I attempt to cancel the plan, the system places me into a "pending active cancellation" status until the end of the annual term.
  4. Because of this pending status, the system blocks me from deleting the account, stopping the plan, and intends to force unauthorized monthly debits from my card until the end of the annual period

This is an impossible loop designed to prevent cancellation and enforce unauthorized billing. Furthermore, because my bank is located in Nigeria, local banking applications do not feature merchant-side recurring debit blocks to stop these forced transactions externally. Therefore, the responsibility to stop these unauthorized attempts falls entirely on zoom.

I explicitly request the following actions immediately:

  • Manually terminate and close my zoom account immediately. I will start using other options that don’t force their users into annual plans with no way to revoke it. I find this very fraudulent.
  • Revoke and cancel the active annual contract term and stop all future monthly debit attempts.
  • Process a courtesy refund for the unintended billing charges incurred due to this system glitch. Approximately two months of billing.

I have completely ceased usage of this account. If automated monthly debit attempts continue despite this explicit revocation of billing authorization, I will escalate this as unauthorized merchant billing to my financial institution's compliance department.

Please confirm receipt of this email and provide a ticket reference number for the manual account closure.

Sincerely,

Mercy Ekoh
