Annual billed monthly plan cancelled, but Zoom says I must keep paying until 2027 — BIL2674371

I am seeking a practical resolution from Zoom regarding billing case BIL2674371.

My account shows Zoom Workplace Pro as:

  • Annual subscription

  • Annual billed monthly

  • Pending Cancellation, effective 23 June 2027

I cancelled the subscription because I no longer use the service. However, Zoom’s Billing Supervisor has advised that the cancellation will only stop the next renewal and that I remain responsible for monthly payments until June 2027.

This is deeply concerning. A plan presented and charged monthly has left me feeling locked into future payments for a service I have cancelled and will not use. I have asked Zoom for immediate cancellation and a refund, but the response has only referred back to standard terms.

I understand Zoom may have an annual commitment model. My concern is whether the annual commitment, monthly-payment structure, automatic renewal, and consequence of cancelling were made sufficiently clear at sign-up and renewal. I am concerned that this kind of standard-form billing arrangement may be unfair for small businesses.

I am asking Zoom to review BIL2674371 at a senior level, immediately terminate the subscription rather than leaving it active until June 2027, and refund the post-cancellation payment.

If this cannot be resolved, I will report the matter to the ACCC as a potential small-business subscription-practice issue and seek assistance from the Victorian Small Business Commission.

Has anyone obtained an immediate cancellation or refund for an “Annual Billed Monthly” Zoom Workplace plan?

From what I've seen, Annual Billed Monthly plans are still annual contracts paid in monthly installments, so support often won't end them early. Your best chance is to request a senior billing review and ask for the original order terms if you believe the commitment wasn't clearly disclosed.

I have the same problem. I finished with Zoom over a year ago and thought I cancelled but now a year later I have a bill for the year. Not only that I wasn’t able to stop another years subscription up to August 2027. That means I end up paying two years subscription for nothing. My group finished over a year ago. I find it very confusing on the website and end up being robbed for two years in a row. Too many words lead to confusion and robbery.

Same with me but worse. I finished Zoom a year ago but have been charged for the year and will be charged another year on top of that. What they say triumphs all  it would appear and they stick to the wording which is too wordy and confusing to most ordinary people. I feel robbed by Zoom but so long as they have yet another years payment in their pockets they will be happy.
