“People who are also Zoom users, who you manually added, who accepted, and who Zoom decides you’re allowed to see.”

That’s not “personal contacts.”
That’s “Zoom-internal, permission-gated directory entries.”

So yes — the term is functionally useless and misleading.

Third: why invitees never auto-populate for you

Even on paid plans, Zoom will not auto-populate invitees unless ALL of these are true:

• Same email address used previously

• Invited via Zoom (not forwarded)

• Calendar integration allowed

• Privacy setting allows suggestion

• No admin restriction

• No alias mismatch

• No secondary calendar

• No recent cache reset

• No platform mismatch (desktop vs web)

That’s an absurd checklist for a basic UX feature.

And if any one of those fails?
You get… nothing.

Which is exactly what you’re experiencing.

Fourth: the privacy excuse is real — and also the problem

Zoom made an extreme overcorrection after early privacy scandals.

• Then slapped friendly labels on features that don’t function
