Account Locked due to Educational Data Collection

One of our teacher's accounts has been locked and it says

"The Educational Data Collection Practices document was not signed by the required data of Sep 22, 2024 UTC. An email with directions for completing the education account activation process has been sent to (teacher's email). The recipient of the email has to provide consent to Zoom's Educational Data Collection Practices to restore access to your account. Until this consent has been recorded, user in your account will be unable to sign into Zoom. If this consent is not signed by Oct 22, 2024 UTC the account may be deleted."

The teacher was able to use the account just a couple weeks ago with no issue and I tried resending the email but it doesn't go into her inbox (yes I checked spam as well). I am just really confused because the consent needed to be signed in 2024 but we are now in January 2026...

It also says to reach out to an org. admin but as far as I am aware, we do not have one at our school.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi uhleenuh,

Thank you for joining the Zoom Community!

It sounds like the account is locked because the Educational Data Collection Practices consent was never signed. Even though the message references 2024, this consent is still required for Education accounts to remain active.

I understand you mentioned that it seems like you do not have an organization admin in school. Kindly check with your IT as usually they are the one managing the Zoom web portal or the admin of the account, otherwise, they should be able to point you to the correct person assigned. The steps to regain access would require an admin/account owner access.

Here’s what to be done to restore access:

1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as the account owner or admin.
You should see a notification that the account is locked.
2. Choose one of the available options:
• Resend Email – this will resend the consent email to the designated recipient.
• Change Recipient – if the original email address is no longer valid or not receiving messages, update it to a current contact who can sign the consent.

3. Once the consent email is received, the designated person must e‑sign the Educational Data Collection Practices document.

4. If you don’t see these options or still can’t unlock the account, please contact Zoom Support to submit a ticket or contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) for assistance.

hoodee23,

I am trying to get similar help. I accidentally clicked the button for Educator. Then, I exacerbated the situation by continuing with giving a fake name and email. Now, I’m stuck on the Consent. I changed the Consent to myself and have the document, but now I’m afraid to sign it because I am not really an educator and don’t need to give Zoom consent. I know I’ve made a mess of this whole thing. I have read the articles to fix the problem, but since I checked all the age groups, I have the under 13 age group and it says to contact Support. I cannot do that! I don’t have access to the Support except for billing questions.

I submitted a separate new question on this issue, but I see you are an employee of Zoom and the suggestions from the Knowledge Base, the Chatbot, and the AI on phone have not worked - mostly because they say to submit a ticket and I am not allowed to do that. Can you get me past this mess so I can use my work email to sign in? Should I lie and say I am an Educator just so I can get into my account. If I do that, will I be able to change to Non Educator in my profile?

Thank you so much. I hope I am reaching you directly, hoodee23.
