Written Communication with Speakers During Virtual Session

Greetings. In Webinars Plus, is there a way for a Host to communicate with a guest Speaker privately in writing in a virtual session? What about for Speakers to communicate something in text to Attendees? In other words, is there some kind of Chat feature in Webinars Plus, similar to what one may find in Zoom Meetings? The only thing I know of is Q&A, which doesn’t work in these cases because the Host or Speaker can’t submit something. Thank you.

    Hello @elarson,

Welcome to the Zoom Community! We’re glad to have you here!

In Zoom Webinars Plus, there is a chat feature that allows Hosts, Co-hosts, Panelists (Speakers), and Attendees to communicate in writing during a virtual session. Here’s how it works:

    • Hosts, Co-hosts, and Panelists can send chat messages to each other privately or to everyone, depending on the chat settings configured by the Host.
    • Attendees can send messages if the Host enables attendee chat, but typically, attendee chat is more restricted than in Zoom Meetings.
    • Hosts and Panelists can use the chat to communicate privately with each other, which is useful for behind-the-scenes coordination.
    • For communication from Speakers (Panelists) to Attendees, the chat can be set so that Panelists can send messages to all attendees, or only to Hosts and other Panelists, depending on the settings.

The Q&A feature is separate and is mainly for Attendees to submit questions to the Host and Panelists, not for Hosts or Panelists to send messages to Attendees.

Let us know if this helps or if you need further assistance.

As an experienced virtual event producer I recommend using an external tool for communicating with speakers.  Typically we use a Whatsapp group for speaker communications.  You don’t want to accidently have a private message go out to the webinar attendees!
