Question

Can Zoom participants not a host have a default AI note taker.

This is my first time asking a question here: At our last zoom meeting for the first time I noticed a tiny ai note taker request that had not come up before.. I asked the host if it was his, he replied it was not his, as his work computer zoom will not allow AI note taker. When I asked a participant whether it was his, he reluctantly replied that he had a default AI that came on for all his zoom meetings. Is this possible and if so why had I not seen the AI note taker request before? I am not tech savvy so I’d appreciate an answer for novices. Many thanks in advance.

Hello @Waterheron

I would recommend reviewing the following articles to learn more about Zoom Notes which appear to be what you are referring to with this post:

https://www.zoom.com/en/products/ai-assistant/features/ai-note-taking/

https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0057702

I hope this helps and if this answers your question please make sure to mark this as a solution.

Thank you,

Jake

Hi Jake, thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately it does not. My question is technical- Is it possible for a participant of a zoom to have their own default AI note taker that automatically by default logs on to every zoom conversation across numerous Zooms without the participant activating it. We had a no AI note taker policy in place, yet when challenged the participant replied he had a default setting that automatically lets AI take notes of every zoom conversation. I had not heard of default AI note taker settings so want to verify.

Hello @Waterheron

Apologies if the above did not address your initial concern. You can utilize 3rd party apps such as Otter.Ai which should allow you to join a call and utilize its note taking features. This is an approved Zoom Marketplace App which you can add to your account and manage the settings to allow you to join calls and utilize this.

You can find more about this feature here: https://otter.ai/zoom and https://marketplace.zoom.us/apps/MmQJIMXUTYiCdPX5anvKVw

This would be the only way I would be aware of for a participant to utilize an AI tool if not utilizing Zoom Notes.

Thank you,

Jake
